Acmon Blue (Plebeius acmon)

Lower Deschutes River. April 24, 2005

NOTE: Lupine Blue is now thought to cover much the same area as Acmon in the NW and to be more common. It is difficult to separate the two, but these Acmon were photographed before the Lupine flight time (late May to early August). The orange aurorae are a paler orange (at least for the May specimens) than Lupines and the black caps do not show on the DHW of some Lupine Blue. The male DHW is bright powdery blue rather than the purpler blue of the Lupine.
