ssp. ampelos, Lower Deschutes River.



ssp. eunomia, Willamette Valley.



ssp. eryngii, Mount Ashland, Siskiyous.


Comment. Very common and widespread but variable in color. Look for its weak fluttering flight. In Oregon we don't always see the spots typical of other satyrs, though in other regions the ringlet may have have spots. A very light colored California subspecies ranges into the Siskiyous (see above). However, close inspection shows the distinctive wavy white diagonal line across both fore and hind wings.
