Llama

Obviously the llama is not a native animal of North America. However, they are increasingly being used as pack animals on our Western pack trails. Thus it is helpful to know their tracks in case you encounter them on a hiking trail.

Tracks

Llama tracks could easily be mistaken for deer tracks if one were a bit careless. They are similar in size to the average deer track but tend to appear splayed, even on solid ground where a deer track would be heart shaped. For comparison, here is a deer track from the same trail.
