Reference Notebook

This section provides a visual field notes about species encountered in my travels. For each species, I give multiple examples of tracks, gaits, scat, burrows, and other sign. Study the photos to get familiar with how tracks may appear on different sufaces and under different circumstances. Note that this section is intended to supplement, not replace, a good field guide. I have assumed some knowledge of tracking terms. The reader may want to consult a taxonomy of the terrestrial mammals found in the Pacific Northwest.
